Retuvo - Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy – Retuvo: AI Photo Editor

Effective date: November 5, 2026  |  Last updated: November 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Rancic Development ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Retuvo photo editing application for Android (package name com.retuvo.photoeditor, the "App"). By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Summary

  • Your photos never leave your device. All editing, including AI features such as background removal, subject/face detection and image labeling, is performed on your device. We do not upload, store or view your photos on any server.
  • We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts or precise location.
  • The App shows ads through Google AdMob and uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These Google services automatically collect limited device and usage data, as described below.
  • If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask for your consent for advertising using Google's User Messaging Platform, and you can change your choice at any time in the App under About → Privacy settings.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

2. Information processed only on your device

2.1 Photos and images

When you choose a photo, the App accesses it from your device storage (Android permissions READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older Android versions) or through the system photo picker. Photos are processed locally to apply the edits you request. Edited images are saved only to your device's gallery (folder Pictures/Retuvo) when you choose to save them (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is requested only on Android 9 and lower for this purpose). Temporary working copies may be kept in the App's private cache and are deleted by Android or when you clear the App's data.

2.2 On-device AI (Google ML Kit)

Features such as subject segmentation (background removal), face detection and image labeling use Google ML Kit, which runs the analysis entirely on your device. Your images are not sent to Google or to us for this processing. Some ML Kit models are delivered and updated through Google Play services. As stated in Google's documentation, ML Kit may send limited, non-image diagnostic and usage metrics (such as performance and API usage statistics) to Google to maintain and improve the service. See ML Kit Terms.

2.3 App preferences

The App stores settings locally on your device (for example, recently used formats, tool settings, favorite presets, onboarding state, reminder preferences and your advertising consent choice). This information is not transmitted to us and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data.

3. Information collected by third-party services

The App integrates the following third-party services, which may collect information automatically. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies.

3.1 Google AdMob (advertising)

The App displays banner, interstitial and rewarded ads (rewarded ads may be used to unlock certain features). AdMob may collect and process:

  • Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / AD_ID) and app set ID;
  • IP address (used to estimate approximate, coarse location);
  • Device information (model, OS version, language, screen size), app information and ad interaction data (ad views, clicks);
  • Diagnostic data related to ad performance and fraud prevention.

This data is used to deliver, measure and personalize ads, and to prevent fraud. Where required by law, we ask for your consent first, as described in Section 3.2. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, at any time in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads). Learn more: How Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google Privacy Policy.

3.2 Advertising consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before ads are requested, as required by the GDPR and Google's EU User Consent Policy. Consent is collected using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), a Google-certified consent management platform that follows the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF). When you first open the App, a consent message explains how Google and its advertising partners may use data such as device identifiers, IP address and ad interaction data, and for which purposes (for example, ad personalization and ad measurement).

  • If you give consent, Google and its partners may show you personalized ads based on your interests.
  • If you do not give consent, you may still see ads, but they will be non-personalized or limited ads. These ads may still use some data, for example to prevent fraud and abuse and to measure ad performance in aggregate.

Your choice is stored on your device. You can review or change it at any time in the App under About → Privacy settings (this option is shown in regions where it is required).

3.3 Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate (for example, which tools are opened and how often) so we can improve it. Firebase Analytics may collect an app instance ID, device and OS information, approximate location derived from IP address, app version, session duration, screens viewed and similar usage events. We do not use it to identify you personally. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

3.4 Firebase Crashlytics

If the App crashes or encounters an error, Crashlytics collects crash reports containing technical information such as device model, OS version, App version, stack traces, memory state and a Crashlytics installation identifier. This information is used only to diagnose and fix problems. Crash data is retained by Google for up to 90 days.

3.5 Google Play services (in-app updates)

The App uses the Google Play In-App Updates API to inform you when a new version is available. This communication is handled by Google Play under the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Permissions used by the App

PermissionPurpose
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGEOpen photos you select for editing.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and lower)Save edited photos to your gallery.
INTERNETLoad ads and the advertising consent message, send analytics and crash reports, check for App updates. Photos are never uploaded.
POST_NOTIFICATIONSShow an optional local reminder to finish an unfinished edit. Generated on the device; no push server is used.
AD_ID (added by Google Mobile Ads SDK)Access the Advertising ID for ad delivery and measurement.

You can revoke permissions at any time in your device's system settings. Some features may not work without them.

5. Sharing

When you choose to share an edited image, the App passes it to the app you select (e.g. a messaging or social media app) using the Android share sheet. What that app does with the image is governed by its own privacy policy. Apart from the third-party services described in Section 3, we do not share, sell or rent your information to anyone. We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Legal bases (EEA / UK users – GDPR)

  • Consent – for personalized advertising and related use of the Advertising ID and other device identifiers, collected through the consent message described in Section 3.2.
  • Legitimate interests – for crash reporting, aggregated analytics, non-personalized advertising, security and fraud prevention, and keeping the App functional and up to date.
  • Performance of a contract – to provide the App's features you request.

Data processed by Google may be transferred to and stored on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, the Serbian Law on Personal Data Protection, or the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because we do not run our own servers or user accounts, we do not hold data that can identify you directly. Data collected by Google services is linked to device identifiers rather than to your identity. You can exercise your choices by:

  • resetting or deleting your Advertising ID and opting out of ad personalization in device settings;
  • changing or withdrawing your ad consent in the App under About → Privacy settings (shown in regions where it is required);
  • clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App, which deletes all locally stored data, including your consent choice;
  • contacting us at the email below – we will respond within 30 days.

California residents: we do not sell personal information. Sharing of identifiers with ad networks for cross-context behavioral advertising can be limited by opting out of ad personalization in your device settings.

8. Data retention and deletion

Photos and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Analytics data is retained by Google according to Firebase's retention settings (up to 14 months); crash reports for up to 90 days; advertising data according to Google's policies. To request deletion of any data associated with your device, email us at the address below with the subject "Data deletion – Retuvo".

9. Security

All data transmitted by the third-party SDKs is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Because your photos are processed and stored only on your device, their security also depends on your device's protections (screen lock, encryption, OS updates).

10. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated in the App or on its Google Play listing. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
